Chelsea Hutchison Foundation
Chelsea's Story

The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation was created in loving memory of our precious daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Chelsea Alice Hutchison.

To find out more about this awesome organization, please go to their website at:

http://www.chelseahutchisonfoundation.org
Chelsea was born September 28, 1992 and brought more joy into our lives than we can express in words. At the age of 11, she began having occasional seizures, until one night, April 19, 2009, at the age of 16, Chelsea died very unexpectedly after having a seizure in her sleep. No one had ever told us a seizure could take her life. The term, SUDEP (Sudden Unexplained Death in Epilepsy) is a term we would learn to know all too well.

Chelsea loved life! She lived every day to the fullest and never ceased to amaze us with her creativity and imagination. From believing she was a baby fox or a mama kitty as a young girl, to pretending to be a mermaid lying helplessly on the floor inside her bedroom (you know, Mermaids can't walk); there was never a dull moment. She had a pink alien friend named "Sweetie" who went on many wonderful adventures with her. To most, Sweetie looked like a simple pink baby blanket. "Britany" was her special teddy bear friend who had her own passport and traveled everywhere with her. The stories she would write and the pictures she would draw amazed us. She loved to read and would get on and off the school bus with her nose in a book; she just couldn't get enough. As she grew into the beautiful young woman that she was, her love and appreciation for life and those around her grew even stronger. Her love for shopping and design labels grew too. Chelsea’s room was immaculate and her school notebooks were color-coordinated and uniquely decorated; complete with a Disney Princess folder inside each one. She took on most school assignments with great enthusiasm. There was no such thing as a simple book report. Instead, they were projects that typically involved a trip to a store for special art supplies to make them just so.

Chelsea was as incredibly beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She never wanted to be limited to just one group of friends; she genuinely wanted to be friends with EVERYONE! She loved who she was and even loved her name! It was important for her to be her own person and often referred to herself as a "dork” with pride! Chelsea touched many lives and we are amazed at how many she continues to touch even after her passing. The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation is designed to assist people living with Epilepsy live more independent lives. Funds raised by this Foundation will help to provide seizure-response dogs and epilepsy monitors to those in need, to educate the public about SUDEP, and provide support to those who have been affected by SUDEP. The Chelsea Hutchison Foundation is a 501(3)c non-profit organization.

HorsePower, Inc. Gala: A Benefit For Special Kids

HorsePower uses the power of the horse to help special needs kids. Community support puts the power in the horses that power HorsePower.

Come join us at the HorsePower Gala on Saturday, June 8, 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Lone Tree Golf Club & Hotel, 9808 Sunningdale Blvd., Lone Tree, CO 80124 Food, cash bar, live music and a silent auction are on the agenda. The special part of the night will be to hear from and meet the special kids and their parents.

HorsePower serves children and adults who have gone through traumatic experiences. They often times have difficulty bonding, trusting others, exhibit low self-esteem and poor confidence in themselves. They often feel responsible for the trauma, have increased anxiety, may be withdrawn/shut-down or become aggressive, struggle with boundaries, and can be impatient. Through the interaction with horses and horseback riding, it can increase self-esteem and confidence, provide healthy and safe relationships (with humans and horses) and help participants to learn appropriate social skills and boundaries. It also serves as an opportunity for students to integrate their trauma history at a pace that is comfortable for them and doesn’t require them to “talk through it” like traditional therapies.

HorsePower’s program may include challenges such as multiple sclerosis, autism, cerebral palsy, spinal cord injuries, Parkinson’s disease, Down’s syndrome, stroke, ADHD, depression, victims of physical, sexual, mental, or emotional abuse, people with trauma histories, as well as children that have been adopted or in a foster family that struggle with bonding, trusting, low self-esteem, and attachment disorders.

HorsePower students learn responsibility, self-awareness, and to follow multi-step directions. They learn what it takes to groom a horse, saddle a horse, an understanding of the tack and equipment used, and an overall respect for this animal. It improves their social and emotional skills, builds self-confidence, improves their attitude, and creates self-discipline. They become courageous enough to overcome fears, develop patience and overall self-esteem. Our goal is to help them achieve a better quality of life overall.

Colorado Horsepower is a non-profit 501(c)(3); providing equine therapy and horsemanship to individuals with special needs. We are a member of PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship), formerly known as NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped Association).

Our mission and goal is to provide equine therapy and horsemanship skills to persons with special needs within our community. Helping mentally, emotionally and physically challenged children and adults through the therapeutic power of horses and the use of horse therapy. Providing a venue for our students to gain a sense of freedom, independence and self-reliance; where they will learn to interact socially, learn new skills, have a sense of accomplishment, learn responsibility and begin that path to self-reliance while working with and caring for horses.

We want our students to gain a sense of self-awareness, improve upon their social and emotional skills; thus, being able to interact with society with limited challenges in life. With this self-reliance, self-confidence, and self-discipline; they will be able to increase their social interaction and awareness with the world. We are providing the means for them to overcome and deal with their fears, learn tolerance, patience and build their self-esteem. They will be empowered to handle and deal with the challenges of life; but in the end achieve a better quality of life with the interaction of horses.

Our students will learn responsibility and self-awareness through directional instruction of horsemanship skills by learning to groom, saddle, use of equipment and respect of the horse. They will gain an overall respect for the animal.

The ManKind Project is an international men's personal growth and leadership development organization. Founded in Wisconsin in 1986, over 40,000 men around the world have done its flagship weekend program, the New Warrior Training Adventure. MKP came to Colorado in 1994. We're redefining mature masculinity for the 21st Century - and we want your help!

The ManKind Project flies in the face of rigid stereotypes about the "Sensitive New Age Man" AND the "Macho Man". We ask men to go right up to the edge - and beyond it - in a culture that seems to be comfortable with mediocrity and passivity from men. We ask men to stop living a vicarious adventure through their TV's and step into a real time adventure to win back their passion for life. We ask men to confront the real problems in their lives and to get 100% honest about who they are. Some men have a really hard time doing that. Many of us did too, but we took the risk anyway.

Leaders wanted. Men willing to step through fear and into the challenge of their lives. Men not afraid to revolt against repressive social norms, take off their masks and break through their personal barriers. Men ready to take real risks and step into their full power. Men not afraid to inhabit ALL the characteristics required of men in changing times; resiliency, integrity, courage, creativity, innovation, adaptability, compassion, empathy, radical self-responsibility, inclusivity, generosity and respect.
Intention and commitment - What we practice and why.

Emotional Authenticity - Because we believe in honesty and wholeness ... we practice emotional intelligence and self-awareness. read more ...
Personal Responsibility - Because we value integrity and accountability ... we take 100% responsibility for our feelings, and we own the impacts - both positive and negative - of our choices and actions.
Leadership Mastery - Because we believe that role models change lives ... we practice highly principled personal, interpersonal, and group leadership.
Empowered Mission - Because we value generosity, service, and connection to spirit ... we explore and live from our deepest purpose.
Supportive Community - Because we care for ourselves and the generations to come ... we create a place for men from all walks of life to learn and teach in a safe, respectful, challenging, and inclusive peer-network. read more ...

We provide ongoing peer leadership opportunities, advanced leadership and emotional mastery trainings and a powerful community of brotherhood for tens of thousands of men around the world.

The demands and pressures that men face today require an extraordinary level of courage, authenticity and tenacity. Are you ready to take a risk and see what life's like on the other side of the door you've come to? If you're ready to make a bold choice, the door can be thrown wide open. The ManKind Project presents a training for men called the New Warrior Training Adventure.

Spa 4 The Pink
Meet Julie Bach, founder of Spa4thePink. During the Progression of Julie’s career she has been — a Strategist, Technologist, Spa Owner, Esthetician/ Nail Technician and — NOW bringing all these skills together as the Visionary behind Spa4ThePink.

From life’s experience of losing both parents to cancer, Julie left her corporate career as a management consultant to Fortune 500 companies; turned her business mindset in to that of a service minded entrepreneur; and founded Spa4ThePink. Her MBA from Harvard Business School has been instrumental as non profit and social entrepreneurship are at the forefront of today’s evolving business models.

Spa4ThePink is a 501 c(3) organization that is deeply committed to servicing those who are going through a difficult time in their lives –providing cancer patients with education, complimentary products and mobile gift cards to receive Oncology Modified spa services. Julie is affectionately referred to as “The Pink, Mobile Gift Card Lady.”

Her Dot-Com technology days led Spa4ThePink to be an early adopter of mobile gift cards. As Julie puts it — “When patients have “Chemo-Brain” the last thing they need to deal with is finding a gift certificate.”

In a recent Interview, Julie explains her service minded entrepreneur mentality – “Spa4ThePink is a way for me to express the core truth of who I am and what I stand for. This non-profit and how quickly it has evolved is a direct correlation to it being an expression of my life purpose. Everyone’s life purpose is different but once you find it and you sprinkle it with a little bit of passion – you as an individual and an organization are unstoppable. The rate at which Spa4ThePink is evolving is a tribute to that fact that for me – my passion and purpose are directly aligned.

My passion is driven by 15 years spent in various Cancer Centers across the United States as the child of parent(s) undergoing cancer treatments. Many components of the organization’s Programs are a tribute to both of my parents and my memories of them going through treatment.”

Julie is deeply committed to servicing those who are going through a difficult time in their lives. As a member of the spa community, it is also her mission to help spa professionals understand that they can continue to support their clients, who just happen to also have cancer. They just need to know how!

We hope that you will join Spa4The in our mission of sharing happiness. Whether you are a trained oncology modified therapist looking to service survivors. A spa, wanting to host a fundraiser for your community of friends to receive services. Or a hospital who would like to give Spa4thePink gift cards to your clients.
